The victim, identified as Tilly S., died on November 7
December 3, 2025 – LONG BEACH, CA – A Long Beach man and his wife were charged on Monday with torturing and
killing his 14-month-old daughter last month.
"The tragic death of this little girl is a heartbreaking reminder of the sacred responsibility we all share to protect our children from harm,” said Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman. “Our Office is committed to seeking justice for Tilly and ensuring those responsible are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law."
Alfredo Muñoz, Jr. (40) and Kelly Anelalani Muñoz (34) both face one count each of murder, torture and assault on a child causing death.
Arraignment in case 25LBCF02185 was continued to December 16 in Department S01 of the Long Beach Courthouse.
On November 7, the victim, identified on the felony complaint as Tilly S., was admitted to Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach and placed on life support but ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
After a police investigation, Alfredo and Kelly Muñoz were both arrested on November 24.
If convicted as charged, both defendants face a maximum sentence of 32 years to life in state prison. Bail is set at $3,030,000 for each.
The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Brian Rosenberg of the Family Violence Division’s Complex Child Abuse Section and investigated by the Long Beach Police Department.
The charges filed in this case are allegations. The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
