December 6, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on December 5, 2025, at 9:26 a.m., deputies from the Colorado River Sheriff’s Station Special Enforcement Team attempted to conduct an enforcement stop of a bicycle in the 200 block of North Lovekin Boulevard, Blythe. The subject, later identified as Eduardo Vasquez, a 46-year-old resident of Blythe, failed to yield and fled north on Lovekin Boulevard into an apartment complex, where he was ultimately located and taken into custody without incident.

During the investigation, deputies located a backpack containing a loaded handgun, a box of ammunition, and body armor. The backpack also had over a pound of individually packaged methamphetamine and over 62 grams of marijuana.

Vasquez was later booked at the Blythe Jail for possession for sale, possession of a controlled substance while armed, a felon in possession of a firearm, and a felon in possession of ammunition.
