Man in custody after experiencing mental health crisis
December 15, 2025 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on December 13, 2025, at approximately
2:58 p.m., deputies from the Santee Sheriff’s Station responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a possible armed subject at Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group, located at 8701 Cuyamaca Street in Santee.
Deputies arrived on scene and out of an abundance of caution, safely evacuated the building while conducting a systematic search for the reported suspect. During the search, deputies contacted an adult male who was experiencing a mental health crisis. No weapons were located.
There were no injuries to patients, staff or deputies. The male was taken into custody and was evaluated by a Psychiatric Emergency Response Team (PERT) clinician. After being evaluated by PERT, He was placed on a 72 hour hold pursuant to 5150 Welfare & Institutions and will be provided with mental health treatment.
