Deputy-Involved Shooting
December 15, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 12:35
a.m., deputies assigned to the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a residence in the 16000 block of Heather Glen Road, Moreno Valley, regarding the report of a residential fire. Sheriff’s Dispatch received multiple reports of a subject setting a fire inside the residence. Upon arrival, deputies found the residence fully engulfed in flames and received information about a subject in the rear of the residence. Deputies entered the backyard and located a subject lying on the ground. Deputies gave commands, but the subject failed to comply, pointed a firearm, and a deputy-involved shooting occurred.
The suspect was struck by gunfire, and deputies rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived. The suspect was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced deceased. No other injuries were reported, and no deputies were injured during this incident. The suspect’s identity will not be released at this time.
The deputies involved in the shooting will be placed on paid administrative leave according to department policy. The identity of the involved deputies will not be released. The investigation is active and ongoing, and no additional details will be released at this time.
