Smoke Advisory – Independence Area of Inyo County 

December 15, 2025 – CAL FIRE officials report that the Artesian Prescribed Burn will begin today near Independence. Smoke may be visible from Monday through Tuesday as burn operations are conducted.

Smoke conditions will be closely monitored by CAL FIRE, local government partners, and LADWP personnel.

Drivers traveling along Highway 395 will see signage referencing the Artesian Prescribed Burn.

Please do not call 911 for smoke related to this planned operation.
