ALPR Leads to Arrest Within Hours 

December 22, 2025 – San Diego Police Department officials report that a 911 call set things in motion after a pedestrian was hit in a crosswalk in the Corridor neighborhood. The SUV involved took off, leaving the victim seriously injured in the middle of the roadway.

Inside our Real Time Operations Center, officers quickly pulled up nearby Smart Street Light footage. Within minutes, the video removed any guesswork. It showed a pedestrian crossing the street, an SUV with a distinctive roof rack, the impact, a brief stop, and then the driver fleeing the scene.

Using camera footage and ALPR technology, the suspect vehicle was identified and the information was shared with officers in the field. Within a few hours, the vehicle was located and the driver was taken into custody.
