SWAT Standoff in Spring Valley
December 23, 2025 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that a man has been arrested after an hours-long
standoff in Spring Valley.
On Monday, December 22, just after 6:00 a.m., deputies assigned to the Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Station were called to the 1600 block of Canyon Road regarding a restraining order violation.
Deputies arrived on scene and learned the suspect, Alvaro Hernandez (25), was inside a home in violation of an active protective order. Witnesses informed deputies the suspect was armed with a firearm.
Out of abundance of caution, evacuations of the home and surrounding residences were conducted.
The Sheriff's Special Enforcement Detail (SED/SWAT) and the Sheriff's Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) responded to the scene.
Just after 12:00 p.m., Hernandez was taken into custody without incident. A loaded .40 caliber firearm was located at the scene.:
Hernandez was booked into the San Diego Central Jail on numerous charges including violation of a protective order, felon in possession of a loaded firearm, felon in possession of ammunition and violation of parole.
