Deputies are investigating a fatal collision in the San Elijo community of San Marcos. 

December 24, 2025 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Thursday, December 23, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., deputies from the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a gray Honda CR-V and a white Nissan Sentra.

Preliminary investigation indicates the Nissan Sentra, driven by an adult female, was traveling westbound on San Elijo Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed over the center median, and entered oncoming traffic, where it collided with the Honda CR-V.

The adult female driver of the Nissan Sentra was pronounced deceased at the scene. The adult female driver of the Honda CR-V was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. She is cooperating with the investigation.

The San Marcos Sheriff’s Station Traffic Unit is conducting the investigation to determine the cause of the collision. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has additional information is encouraged to contact the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station at (760) 510-5200.
