Fatal Collision in San Marcos 

February 7, 2026 – San Diego County Sheriff's Office officials report that a fatal collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in San Marcos is under investigation. 

On Friday, February 6, 2026, at about 7:50 p.m., deputies from the San Marcos Sheriff's Station responded to reports of a collision in the 1100 block of W. Mission Road.

Upon arrival, deputies learned the collision occurred between a black Honda Odyssey minivan and a pedestrian.  The pedestrian was found in the westbound lanes of W. San Marcos Boulevard.

Deputies and paramedics provided life-saving measures at the scene; however, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at 8:15 p.m.

The driver of the minivan remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.  At this point it is unknown if drugs or alcohol are a factor in the collision.

The San Marcos Sheriff's Station Traffic Unit is conducting the investigation.  Anyone who witnessed the incident or has additional information is encouraged to contact the San Marcos Sheriff's Station at (760) 510-5200.
