NET-5 Gang and Firearms Investigation Leads to Arrest
February 8, 2026 – Yuba City Police Department officials report that on January 21, 2026, agents with the Yuba Sutter Narcotics and Gang Enforcement Task Force (NET-5) served a search warrant at a residence in the 1000 block of Clark Avenue in Yuba City targeting a documented, active Norteño criminal street gang member and convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms.
During the search, agents seized a loaded Sig Sauer 9mm handgun with an obliterated serial number, a loaded Springfield XD .40 caliber handgun with an obliterated serial number, additional ammunition, a Glock handgun magazine, weapon light, red dot sight, and multiple items of Norteño gang indicia.
25-year-old, Jonathan Melo of Yuba City was taken into custody without incident. At the time of his arrest, Melo was out on bail in Butte County for similar firearm-related charges. Melo was booked into the Sutter County Jail for multiple felony weapons violations and related offenses. The Investigation was forwarded to the Sutter County District Attorney’s Office.
NET-5 continues to do outstanding proactive enforcement work targeting gang members and repeat offenders responsible for driving violence and distributing illegal narcotics in our region. Removing illegal firearms and holding offenders accountable remains a top priority in protecting our community.
