February 8, 2026 – Sacramento County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Thursday, Sheriff’s Property Crime and Organized Retail
Crime Task Force Detectives along with Central Division Deputies conducted a focused retail theft operation at the Dollar Tree on Florin Road in South Sacramento, that has been severely impacted by repeat theft.
That single store has generated 67 calls for service in just three months, and company officials report nearly 65% losses in 2025. Losses at this scale lead to stores closing, prices going up, fewer jobs, and fewer services for the surrounding neighborhood. This location employs 10 people, and continued theft puts every one of those jobs at risk.
Results from the operation: 21 arrested, including 4 juveniles.
Adults arrested:
Angel Rojas (31), Javarri McDaniel-Wiley (24), Lisa Gladden (50), Teodoro Logo-Reyes (46), Donovan Davis (27), Cortney Shelton (25), A’teihijion Alexander (26), Larry Branch (34), Lashawna Hurdle (49), Brittany Bennett (33), Manuel Segura (30), Kristel Rocha (37), Benjamin Andrew (20), Jordan Lujan (33), Wayne McCalley (43), Elizabeth Moreno (45)
Several of those arrested are repeat offenders, where 6 suspects are eligible for prosecution under Proposition 36, a measure voters overwhelmingly passed.
Quality-of-life crimes like retail theft affect everyone. When theft is ignored, neighborhoods lose access to basic goods, small shopping centers decline, and law-abiding residents pay the price through higher costs and reduced options.
Voters made their expectations clear with Prop 36. Now the Legislature must fully fund it so these cases can be prosecuted in a way that actually makes meaningful change, and restores some balance for the communities bearing the impact.
