Burglary Crew’s Getaway Plan Hits a Wall
February 15, 2026 – Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office officials report that early Thursday morning (3:00 a.m.), an alarm startled a car break-in victim in City of Cupertino. The suspects fled, but Deputies Kirby and Blomdal were on it!
One getaway car was spotted on Tantau Avenue. When deputies tried to stop it, the driver sped off, leading to a brief pursuit that ended in a crash off Interstate 280 on the Highway 101 on ramp.
Then, two suspects ran and jumped into a second getaway car. That car also fled but deputies caught up and arrested SIX suspects connected to the burglary!
Stolen property, ski masks, window punches, and pry tools were all recovered. Several suspects were on probation and had outstanding warrants. They now face charges for burglary, receiving stolen property, conspiracy, and reckless evading.
Flock license plate images helped make this investigation a success.
Outstanding work by Deputies Kirby and Blomdal!
