High-risk search warrant in Spring Valley 

February 17, 2026 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Sunday, February 15th, around 7:30 san diego county sheriff department logop.m., a robbery was reported in the 2300 block of Bancroft Drive.

The victim contacted the Sheriff's Office and reported that the suspect pointed a firearm at him and had stolen his horse.  Deputies located the suspect a short distance away from the location. Upon contact, the suspect ran away with the stolen horse. Sheriff's Aerial Support To Regional Enforcement Agencies (ASTREA) was overhead and supported deputies by following the suspect as he fled into a nearby residence. Due to the high-risk nature of the operation, the Sheriff's Special Enforcement Detail (SED) and Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT) responded to assist with the incident.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., the suspect exited the residence and was arrested. He was identified as Gabriel De La Torre Santana (29). The stolen horse was recovered and returned to its owner. De La Torre Santana was booked into the San Diego Central Jail.
