Fatal Traffic Collision 

February 24, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on February 22, 2026, at 9:56 p.m., deputies riverside county sheriff logoassigned to Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to the area of Hwy. 111 and Frank Sinatra Drive, Rancho Mirage, regarding a report of a traffic collision. Upon arrival, deputies located a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, with an adult female in the roadway suffering from significant injuries. Deputies and paramedics performed life-saving measures, but the female was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station Traffic Reconstruction Team responded and assumed the investigation. The decedent’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification. The cause of the collision is still under investigation, and it does not appear alcohol and or drugs were a factor in the collision. The investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is available at this time.
