Shooting Suspect Arrested 

March 2, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 7:07 p.m., deputies from the riverside county sheriff logoMoreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the 12000 block of Heacock Street, regarding reports of a male shooting a gun into the air. Upon arrival, deputies located the suspect and attempted to detain him, but he fled on foot. After a short foot chase, the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Deputies located evidence of a shooting at the scene as well as an unserialized firearm discarded by the suspect as he was fleeing. No injuries were reported.  The suspect was identified as Angel Michael Rivas, a 30-year-old resident of Moreno Valley. Rivas was arrested and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for negligent discharge of a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of an unserialized firearm, and under the influence of a controlled substance while armed.
