Fatal Traffic Collision 

March 4, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on March 4, 2026 – March 3, 2026, at 7:40 a.m., deputies assigned to Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to the area of Portola Avenue and Frank Sinatra Drive, Palm Desert, regarding a report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Upon arrival, deputies located an adult female in the roadway suffering from significant injuries. CalFire medical personnel responded and transported the female to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. 

The Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station Traffic Reconstruction Team responded and assumed the investigation. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was cooperative in the investigation.  The cause of the collision is still under investigation, and it does not appear alcohol and or drugs were a factor in the collision. The decedent’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.  This investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is available at this time.
