Yuba City Police Make Arrest After Armed Confrontation

March 4, 2026 – Yuba City Police Department officials report that last Thursday at around 2:00 p.m., Yuba City police officers on swing shift responded to a disturbance call in the 1500 block of Anneka Lane involving a firearm. The reporting party told dispatch that 23-year-old Akash Kaushal of Yuba City was pointing a gun at another person and threatening to shoot him. When officers arrived, they took Kaushal into custody without incident and located a loaded Glock 23 handgun inside his vehicle.

Through investigation it was determined that Kaushal had gone to the location to confront a mechanic who had previously worked on his car. The argument quickly escalated, and Kaushal allegedly got into his Chevy Camaro and intentionally rammed another vehicle associated with the mechanic. He then exited his vehicle, produced the handgun, and threatened to shoot several people at the scene.

Kaushal was booked into Sutter County Jail on charges of assault with a firearm, making criminal threats, and carrying a loaded firearm and his bail has been set to $250,000.
