Suspects Arrested 2,600 Miles Away in Hawaii Following Gunfire Attack on a Los Angeles County Sheriff Deputy
March 8, 2026 – Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Thursday the Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert G.
Luna announced the arrest of two suspects in the attempted murder of a deputy sheriff working Lomita Sheriff’s Station.
“The incident was a deliberate and dangerous attack on a deputy who was simply doing his job serving and protecting the community.” says Sheriff Robert G. Luna.
Thankfully, the deputy was not injured. Sheriff Luna emphasized violence against deputies will not be tolerated and anyone who targets law enforcement personnel will be pursued relentlessly and held accountable.
Sheriff Luna also thanked the Los Angeles County District Attorney, Operation Safe Streets Bureau investigators, Lomita Station detectives, South Patrol leadership, and partner agencies including LAX Police, the Kauai Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals Service for their swift collaboration in bringing the suspects into custody. He also expressed appreciation to the communities of Rolling Hills Estates and Los Angeles County for their continued support.
