March 10, 2026 – Monterey County Sheriff’s Office officials report deputies have detained a male who entered the bedroom of a residence in
Pajaro before being confronted and detained by occupants.
On Saturday, March 7th, 2026, just before 9:00 A.M., deputies received a report of a residential burglary in progress along the 20 block of Brooklyn Street in Pajaro. Upon arrival, residents of the home had detained 31-year-old Aniketh Kumar of Seaside.
Deputies learned that Kumar had entered an open door to the residence and walked into a bedroom occupied by two girls, ages 6 and 9. Kumar began mumbling and then proceeded to remove his pants. The girls began to scream, catching the attention of family who immediately responded to the room and saw Kumar. Family members grabbed Kumar who began resisting their efforts to remove him from the room. Family was ultimately able to get him outside where he was detained until deputies arrived.
Further investigation revealed that Kumar had entered a nearby apartment just prior to entering the residence on Brooklyn Street. During that incident, he was confronted by occupants of the apartment who yelled at him that they were calling the Sheriff’s Office. Kumar fled.
Kumar was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained prior to contact with law enforcement. The children and family members in this incident were unharmed.
