Tuesday, March 17, 2026, East Division Patrol Deputies with assistance from the Rancho Cordova Police Department responded to the 4000 block of South Watt Avenue to the report of a shooting. The caller stated they heard two shots fired and saw one man had been shot. Deputies arrived on scene and discovered a 28-year-old male victim had been shot. Detectives obtained a felony Ramey arrest warrant for Hernandez for murder.
On March 18, 2026, Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau Detectives were able to locate and arrest Hernandez. Hernandez was transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he remains in custody, ineligible for bail, on charges of Murder and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. His next court appearance was scheduled for March 20, 2026.
The victim’s identity will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office in accordance with their protocols.
