Homicide Investigation
March 27, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 7:58 p.m., deputies from
the Thermal Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the intersection of Coahuilla Street and 6th Street, in the unincorporated community of Riverside County known as Mecca, regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, deputies located Anjel Rodriguez, an 18-year-old resident of Thermal, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office - Central Homicide Unit was contacted and responded to assume the investigation. No arrests have been made. This investigation is ongoing, and no further information will be released at this time.
