April 3, 2026 – Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office officials report that Deputy Burke was on patrol near City of Cupertino when he spotted a U-Haul pickup weaving between the right lane and the shoulder on northbound Highway 280. After the truck exited onto Lawrence Expressway, he conducted a traffic stop near Stevens Creek Boulevard.
Both the driver and passenger gave false names and were found to have outstanding warrants. The truck appeared to be stolen, and a search uncovered stolen mail, personal identifying information belonging to others, including checks, mailbox keys, drug paraphernalia, and burglary tools. The driver also had prior convictions related to identity theft and vehicle theft.
Both individuals were arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
Eagle-eyed Deputy Burke and his K9 partner, Raven, are always watching to keep West Valley safe!
