April 8, 2026 – Sacramento County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Tuesday afternoon, Central Division Patrol Deputies conducted a traffic stop near Power Inn Road and Elder Creek Road in South Sacramento.

The driver, 36-year-old Dante Powell, was found to be a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.

During a search of the vehicle, Deputies located a loaded, unregistered Taurus semi-automatic handgun with an illegal 15-round high-capacity magazine inside a satchel on the passenger floorboard.

Powell was taken into custody and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.
