May 26, 2026 – Yuba City Police Department officials report that on May 12, 2026, Yuba City Police Officers received information that 18-year-old Israel Cuevas of Yuba City was allegedly making violent threats while unlawfully possessing a firearm. Due to the nature of the allegations and concern for public safety, officers coordinated with allied agencies before safely taking Cuevas into custody in the parking lot of a business located in the 2300 block of Butte House Road.

During the investigation, officers learned Cuevas was on searchable probation and conducted a probation search of his residence in the area of Anneka Lane and Walton Avenue in Yuba City. During the search, officers located a loaded Glock handgun equipped with a drum magazine, along with additional ammunition, all believed to belong to Cuevas.

Cuevas, who is prohibited from possessing firearms, was taken into custody and booked into the Yuba County Jail on charges related to an ongoing Yuba County investigation, as well as multiple weapons-related charges including possession of a large-capacity magazine, carrying a loaded firearm while not the registered owner, prohibited person in possession of a firearm, and criminal storage of a firearm.

This firearm recovery is one of several illegal firearms Yuba City officers have recovered from the streets in recent months through proactive enforcement and investigative efforts aimed at reducing violent crime and protecting the community.

Great work by all involved officers and assisting agencies.
