June 23, 2026 – San Diego County Police Department officials report that in the end of May, more than 200 Hells Angels members and associates came to San Diego County for their annual "Southrun" event.
The Hells Angels Motorcycle Club is a self-identified 1% outlaw motorcycle club that has been repeatedly linked by law enforcement to organized criminal activity, including violent assaults, weapons offenses, and narcotics trafficking.
In San Diego County, Hells Angels members and associates were involved in the 2023 Ocean Beach attack that resulted in 18 convictions for felony hate crimes and gang allegations.
In response, local, county, and state law enforcement agencies conducted coordinated enforcement operations throughout the weekend.
The results:
- 140 law enforcement contacts
- 64 citations issued
- 4 misdemeanor arrests
- 20 felony arrests
- 14 firearms seized
- Multiple motorcycles and vehicles impounded
Several individuals were found carrying loaded firearms, knives, hammers, and other weapons.
One rider fled from officers at speeds exceeding 100 MPH through rush hour traffic before being arrested.
Those arrested had criminal histories that included homicide, attempted rape, robbery, DUI, illegal weapons possession, narcotics sales and possession, spousal battery, embezzlement, auto theft, child endangerment, felony evasion, and parole violations.
This wasn't about motorcycles. It was about public safety.
