July 8, 2026 – Yuba City Police Department officials report that on July 3, 2026, at around 9:37 P.M., Yuba City Police Department officers responded to the Feather River Parkway for reports of a vehicle that had struck a group of people. Initial callers reported that a white vehicle had driven into a crowd, with multiple injuries reported.
When officers arrived, witnesses had safely detained the driver until police took her into custody. The driver, identified as 30-year-old Hirly Grisell Aguilar-Gramajo of Marysville, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for DUI.
The investigation revealed Aguilar-Gramajo drove her vehicle directly into the concrete bollards installed on the levee near the 10th Street Bridge that prevent vehicles from accessing the levee. Those bollards likely prevented a much more serious tragedy. At the time of the crash, approximately 200 people were gathered in the area for a fireworks show to celebrate America’s 250th birthday. Had the bollards not been in place, the incident could have resulted in significantly more injuries.
Only one person sustained injuries during the incident. An adult male suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision but declined medical treatment at the scene. A toddler who was being held by the male at the time of the collision was transported to Adventist Health and Rideout for evaluation. Fortunately, the child was not injured.
Aguilar-Gramajo was booked into the Sutter County Jail for felony driving under the influence, child abuse, and driving without a license.
This incident serves as another reminder that impaired driving puts everyone at risk. If you choose to drink, make a plan for a safe ride home. The consequences of driving under the influence can change lives in an instant.
