July 9, 2026 – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials report that in late 2024, investigators with
the Portland Police Bureau responded to a homicide in which the victim had been fatally shot. During the investigation, detectives identified Rodney Rogers as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant for murder.
Investigators determined Rogers had fled Oregon and was believed to be in the San Bernardino County area. Members of the United States Marshals Service (USMS) Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force contacted investigators with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department - Specialized Enforcement Division (SED), who also serve as Deputy U.S. Marshals assigned to the USMS Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force, to assist in locating and apprehending Rogers.
Through extensive investigative efforts, SED investigators developed information linking Rogers to the city of Loma Linda. On Thursday, July 2, 2026, investigators received additional information indicating Rogers was in the Loma Linda area. Acting on that information and employing a variety of investigative techniques, SED investigators located Rogers at a business plaza in the 25000 block of Barton Road.
SED investigators safely took Rogers into custody without incident. Rogers was transported to the Central Detention Center, where he was booked pending extradition to Oregon.
