Fatal Traffic Collision 

July 22, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 7:16 a.m., deputies assigned to the Thermal Sheriff’s Station responded to the intersection of Madison Street and Andalusia, La Quinta regarding a traffic collision.

Upon arrival, deputies located a single vehicle that had collided into a palm tree. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The La Quinta Traffic Reconstruction Team responded and assumed the investigation. The driver’s identity will not be released at this time pending next of kin notification. At this time, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and no further details will be released at this time.
