July 23, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on June 19, 2026, deputies from the Palm
Desert Sheriff’s Station received a report of a theft from the 34000 block of Monterey Avenue, Rancho Mirage. Deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station’s Robbery Burglary Suppression Team assumed the investigation and identified the suspect as Artavazd Grigoryan, a 59-year-old resident of Los Angeles. Through further investigation, deputies determined Grigoryan was responsible for multiple thefts from a retailer in the Coachella Valley and Los Angeles area, resulting in a combined total loss of over $30,000.
On July 20, 2026, deputies served a search warrant in the 65000 block of Rolling Hills Drive, Desert Hot Springs, where Grigoryan was taken into custody without incident. While at the location, deputies also recovered over $7,000 worth of stolen merchandise, which was later returned to the retailer.
Grigoryan was transported and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for burglary, grand theft, organized retail crime, and possession of stolen property.
