July 29, 2026 – Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department officials issue a scam alert.
Scam text messages are becoming more convincing every day, and it only takes one click to put 
your personal information at risk.
If you receive a suspicious text message:
- Don’t click on links.
- Don’t reply to the sender.
- Don’t provide personal or financial information.
- Verify the request by contacting the company.
- Report the message as junk or spam.
- Delete it.
Remember, legitimate organizations won’t pressure you to act immediately through an unexpected text message.
