Scam Alert
March 30, 2026 – Sonora CHP officials report that there are several people receiving text messages that indicate
they have parking violations or toll violations, with an image of a court summons and a QR code to scan to make a payment.
Please do not open any of the links or scan the QR code.
The Department of Motor Vehicles or Superior Courts of California will not send anything official via text message.
The fake summons does not have any of the recipient's identifying information on it.
Please use caution when receiving messages like this.
