January 8, 2026 – Merced County Sheriff’s Office officials report that they have received multiple reports of scam calls from individuals claiming to be one of our staff members.
The callers are telling residents they need to confirm their personal information on some paperwork. Please know, these calls are fake.
Our staff will never call you to request personal information, inform you of a warrant, or demand payment.
If you receive any suspicious calls similar to this, please hang up immediately and report it to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office at 209.385.7445.
