Jail Bail Scam 

December 27, 2025 – Nevada County Sheriff's Office officials report that as the holiday season continues, we remind the community to remain alert for scams.

In recent days, we’ve learned scammers are using our real Jail Media Report page (https://reports.nevcounty.net/justice/rdPage.aspx...) as a resource for scam attempts. In short, scammers are calling the real families of incarcerated individuals by phone, identifying themselves as our staff or another law enforcement partner, and demanding bail payment for the incarcerated relative’s release. This is a scam. We do not do this.

Be cautious of unsolicited messages, urgent requests for payment, or links from unknown sources. When in doubt, hang up and contact the source directly, such as our Wayne Brown Correctional Facility for verification and assistance.
