October 21, 2025 – Merced County Sheriff’s Office officials report that the have received multiple reports of scam calls from individuals claiming to be one of our staff members. The callers are telling residents that they have a warrant and must take immediate action.
Please know, these calls are fake. Our staff will never call you to inform you of a warrant, demand payment, or request personal information over the phone.
If a legitimate warrant has been issued for your arrest, you will not be notified by phone.
We urge all residents to stay alert and report any suspicious calls to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.
