Phone Scam Alert
September 1, 2025 – Madera County Sheriff’s Office officials say that they’ve received reports of a scam involving calls
from (559) 815-7737.
The caller claims to be “Sgt. Thomas” with the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.
The scammer has prior knowledge of victims’ names and uses this information to sound credible.
They may:
- Claim you failed to appear in court and must pay money to avoid arrest.
- Ask to speak with you about private HIPAA/medical information.
Important Reminders:
- The Madera County Sheriff’s Office will never demand payment over the phone or threaten arrest for missing court.
- We will not request personal medical information over the phone.
- If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately.
