August 31, 2025 – Amador County Sheriff's Office officials report that they have been made aware of an ongoing telephone scam in which scammers falsely identify themselves as the Sheriff of Amador County and demand payment for alleged missed federal grand jury duty.

Please be advised that the Sheriff's Office does not request payments over the phone for "missed jury duty" or any other matter. If you receive such a call, do not provide any personal information or make any payments.

If you suspect you are being scammed, contact the Amador County Sheriff's Office immediately at 209-223-6500.
