Sheriff Warns of Latest Phone Scam 

August 7, 2025 – Tulare County Sheriff’s Office officials report that Sheriff Boudreaux wants to make you aware of the latest phone scam TCSO scamgoing around from someone posing as an employee of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.

The scammer calls the Individual saying they are “Sergeant Murphey with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office and they have an urgent legal matter to discuss.

The phone number they’re calling from is not one of our numbers, and Sergeant Murphey is actually a Lieutenant, not a Sergeant. Don’t be fooled by phone scammers!

If you’re wanted by law enforcement, we will come to your door or make an appointment. We will not call you.

If you get a call from a phone scammer, here’s what you should do:

  • Say, “No, thank you,” and hang up the phone.
  • Do not send money.
  • Do not give them your personal information.
  • If you become a victim, contact law enforcement.
