Scam Alert – Mariposa County Residents

October 22, 2025 – Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office officials report that they have received multiple Mariposa SO scamreports of scam calls from individuals falsely claiming to be members of our Office. The callers are telling residents that they have a warrant and must take immediate action, usually followed up by a request to pay in order to avoid arrest.

Please know; these calls are fake. Our deputies and staff will never:

* Call to inform you of a warrant,

* Demand payment of any kind, or

* Request personal or financial information over the phone.

If a legitimate warrant has been issued for your arrest, you will not be notified by phone.

We urge all residents to stay alert, avoid sharing personal information with unknown callers, and report any suspicious calls to the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office at 209-966-3615
