July 31, 2026 – Monterey County Sheriff's Office officials report that on July 30, 2026, at approximately 1:40 a.m., Monterey County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 17900 block of Pesante Road in Prunedale following a report of a person brandishing a firearm.
Deputies contacted the victim, who reported that 33-year-old Daryl Lipska of Prunedale had arrived at the residence intending to fight. During the confrontation, Lipska allegedly brandished a laser-equipped revolver before fleeing eastbound on Pesante Road in a black vehicle.
A short time later, deputies located a black Honda sedan near the intersection of Blackie Road and Prunedale South Road. Lipska was identified as an occupant of the vehicle and was detained without incident. Deputies searched the vehicle and located a silver Smith & Wesson .38 Special revolver on the vehicle's floorboard, along with suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia. The firearm was not registered to Lipska.
Deputies determined that Lipska is a convicted felon and was prohibited from possessing firearms. Investigators also learned that he was out on bail for a separate felony case at the time of his arrest.
Lipska was arrested and booked into Monterey County Jail on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm while subject to a restraining order, committing a felony while released on bail, and drug-related offenses.
"California law clearly prohibits convicted felons and individuals subject to qualifying restraining orders from possessing firearms. Our deputies acted quickly to locate this individual and remove an illegally possessed firearm from our community,” stated Monterey County Sheriff Tina Nieto. “Our deputies remain committed to proactively enforcing these laws and holding offenders accountable before situations like this escalate into acts of violence."
Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Monterey County Sheriff's Office.
