August 2, 2026 – Monterey County Sheriff’s Office officials report that they are currently investigating two separate incidents of human remains that have been found in two different locations.

On August 1, 2026, just after 8:30 A.M., Fire/EMS and Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a report of an infant that had been located near the area of the 100 block of Struve Road in north Monterey County. Fire personnel were able to confirm that the infant was deceased.

At about 9:55 A.M., Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 400 block of Old Stage Road in Salinas after a county employee located what appeared to be human remains.

Both of these incidents are being actively investigated, and no further information is available at this time.
