Attempted Murder Arrest 

August 2, 2026 – Monterey Police Department officials report that on July 2, 2026, (MPD) officers investigated a Monterey Police Arrest Woman for Domestic Violence Against Husband ...reported stabbing initially stated to have occurred in the 2300 block of North Fremont Street in Monterey. An initial media release regarding this incident was previously distributed on July 8, 2026.

Following a thorough investigation by MPD Detectives, it was determined that the victim's original statements regarding the location and circumstances of the incident were false.

Investigators discovered that on the evening of July 2, 2026, the victim was at an apartment in the 400 block of Dela Vina Avenue in Monterey with 19-year-old Jerralyn Stringer. The investigation revealed that the victim and Stringer, who were in a romantic relationship, engaged in a verbal altercation. During the dispute, Stringer reportedly stabbed the victim multiple times.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Stringer for Penal Code 664/187 - attempted murder. On July 30, 2026, at approximately 12:30 P.M., Monterey Police Officers and Pacific Grove Police Officers located Stringer in the area of Gibson Avenue and Forest Avenue, Pacific Grove. Stringer was arrested without incident and booked into Monterey County Jail with bail set at $1,000,000.
