Suspect Arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon 

August 8, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Friday, July 31, 2026, deputies assigned to the Perris Sheriff’s Station responded to a shooting in the 33000 block of Simpson Road, in the unincorporated area of Winchester.  Upon arrival, they learned the victim had been taken to a local hospital by a patron.  Perris Station Investigations responded and assumed the investigation.  During their investigation, they identified the suspect as Jason Adams, a 49-year-old resident of Homeland. The victim was treated at a local hospital and has since been released.

On Friday, August 7, 2026, the Riverside Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit, with the assistance of the Special Enforcement Bureau and Sheriff’s K9 Unit, located and arrested Adams in the 800 block of West Florida Avenue, in the city of Hemet. Deputies later served a search warrant at Adams' residence located in the 26000 block of Guthridge Lane, in the unincorporated area of Homeland

During the service of the search warrant, several items of evidence from the incident were located, along with 13 firearms, including a suppressed handgun, several assault rifles, and a stolen handgun.  Many of the firearms were found to be unregistered or have no serial number. Adams was transported and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon-firearm and felon in possession of a firearm.
