Suspect Arrested After Fatal Shooting in Hesperia 

August 9, 2026 – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 6:52 p.m., Hesperia Station deputies responded to the area of Hesperia Road and Yucca Street, for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon and shots fired call. Upon arrival, deputies located Esteven Contreras, on the street suffering from several gunshot wounds. Deputies immediately initiated lifesaving measures until medical personnel arrived. Despite these efforts, Contreras was pronounced deceased at the scene. The suspect fled the area in a vehicle prior to deputies arriving. 

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail also responded to the location and assumed the investigation. An extensive investigation was initiated, and Eduardo Bojorquez was identified as the suspect. During the course of the investigation, Bojorquez turned himself in at the Hesperia station where he was arrested for PC187(A)- Murder and remains in custody at the High Desert Detention Center.
