Fatal Traffic Collision in Mission Viejo 

August 12, 2026 – MISSION VIEJO, CA – Orange County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Saturday, August 8, at 9:19 p.m., deputies responded to the area of Pacific Crest Drive and Glenwood Drive in Mission Viejo regarding a traffic collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Deputies arrived and found Duo Ying Liang, a 60-year-old female from Mission Viejo, on the ground with severe injuries. She was transported to a local area hospital by the Orange County Fire Authority. She succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, August 9. The driver of the vehicle, Caleb Thomas Baeza, 18-year-old of Mission Viejo, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and was booked into the Orange County Jail.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is conducting the investigation into this fatal collision.
