Fatal Traffic Collision - Suspect Arrested (Update)
August 24, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on August 18, 2026, Silvia Corona 
posted bail and was released from custody.
On August 20, 2026, the Riverside District Attorney’s Office issued an arrest warrant for an additional charge of second-degree murder. Deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station responded to Corona’s residence, where she was taken into custody without incident. Corona was booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center for second-degree murder, and her bail was set at $1,000,000.
Update: The Perris Sheriff's Station Traffic Reconstruction Team continued the investigation and identified Silvia Corona, a 52-year-old female from San Jacinto, as the suspect in the collision.
On August 17, 2026, Corona was arrested and booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury.
