Fatal Traffic Collision 

August 30, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 5:54 p.m., deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the intersection of Iris Avenue and Lasselle Street, Moreno Valley, regarding a report of a four-vehicle traffic collision. Upon arrival, deputies located the vehicles with major collision damage. Four subjects were transported in critical condition to a local area hospital, where one subject was later pronounced deceased.

The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded and assumed the investigation. The cause of the collision is still under investigation, and it is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision. The decedent was identified as David Betts, a 65-year-old resident of Menifee. No arrests have been made; however, this investigation remains ongoing, and no further details are available at this time.
