Homicide Investigation
August 30, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 6:59 p.m.,
deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station responded to the report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 21000 block of Elmwood Street, in the unincorporated area of Perris known as Mead Valley. Upon arrival, deputies located a subject on the ground suffering from injuries consistent with stab wounds. Deputies and paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the subject was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene. The Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation.
During the investigation, deputies identified the suspect as 54-year-old Ruben Estrada, a resident of Moreno Valley. Estrada was located at the scene and taken into custody without incident. He was later booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for murder.
The victim’s identity is being withheld at this time pending next-of-kin notification. This is an ongoing investigation, and no further information will be released at this time.
