SIU Fentanyl Arrest 

September 7, 2026 – Sutter County Sheriff’s Office officials report that in August 2026, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) began an investigation into the alleged trafficking and sales of fentanyl by 32-year-old Joel Caldwell in Sutter County.

On September 1, 2026, SIU agents located Caldwell driving in the area of E Street in Marysville. With the assistance of the Yuba County Sheriff's Office, Caldwell was stopped in his vehicle, and SIU agents executed a search warrant.

During the search, agents located approximately 25.5 grams of methamphetamine, 45.61 grams of powdered fentanyl, prescription pills, a digital scale, and packaging materials.

Caldwell was taken into custody and booked into the Yuba County Jail for various narcotics and sales related charges.

The Special Investigations Unit remains committed to investigating narcotics-related offenses and disrupting the trafficking and sale of illegal drugs throughout Sutter County and Yuba City.
