Hit-and-Run Leaves Pedestrian Dead
October 5, 2026 – North Hollywood, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that Valley Traffic
Division detectives are investigating a hit-and-run collision that left a 71-year-old woman dead.
On October 3, 2026, around 9:35 p.m., a dark red Ford SUV was traveling southbound on Lankershim Boulevard, north of Oxnard Street, when it struck a female pedestrian crossing Oxnard Street outside the crosswalk. The hit-and-run driver negotiated a U-turn on Lankershim Boulevard and fled northbound without stopping, identifying themselves, or rendering aid, as required by law.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the female pedestrian dead at scene.
Her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Valley Traffic Division detectives are urging the public to come forward with information regarding this fatal hit-and-run. If you were driving on Lankershim Boulevard near Oxnard Street on October 3, 2026, around 9:35 p.m., and/or witnessed the collision, please contact Valley Traffic Division detectives with any information you may have.
Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
