October 18, 2026 – Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials announce the passing of Deputy Ira Ynigo.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic loss of Deputy Ira Ynigo, a seven-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, who passed away as a result of an off-duty traffic collision.

Deputy Ynigo joined the ranks of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in 2019 after graduating from Academy Class #441. He began his career at Men’s Central Jail and later transferred to the Central Court Bureau, where he served as a bailiff beginning in 2025.

Throughout his years of service, Deputy Ynigo was a valued member of the department, and his dedication will be remembered by those who had the privilege of serving alongside him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all who knew him.
